Zijlstra and Hedman dominate in Denmark

The Denmark Open took place once again in Esbjerg this weekend, with The Netherland's Anca Zijlstra and England's Deta Hedman taking top honours.

Saturday played host to the WDF Gold-ranked Denmark Open, with the title going the way of 'The Phoenix', Anca Zijlstra. Ziljstra took early wins over Ramona Mostad-Eriksen and Dorthe Neilsen before facing Suzanne Smith in the Semi-Final, securing her place in the 2021 final with a steady 4-1 win.

Zijlstra would face 'From Russia with Love', Anastasia Dobromyslova in the final. Dobromyslova faced a last-leg encounter with England's Lorraine Winstanley in the quarter-finals, before facing Deta Hedman in a hard-fought semi-final which saw Dobromyslova make her third ranking final of 2021.

Strong finishing from Ziljstra, including a 116 checkout, saw Zijlstra take the title 5-2, and secure herself a guaranteed place at the 2022 WDF World Championships at the Lakeside.

It was Saturday's semi-finalist Deta Hedman who emerged victorious in the WDF Silver ranked Denmark Masters, marking not only Hedman's staggering 217th title, but her fourth Denmark Masters victory!

Hedman, who won her 'Golden Ticket' to the Lakeside World Championship finals in September at the England Open, further cemented her position as the WDF World Number One with a 5-2 win over The Netherland's Aileen de Graaf in the final.
