Turner takes the Gibraltar Open

The first WDF tournament of 2021 on European soil was hosted on Sunday by the Gibraltar Darts Association at the impressive Europa Point Stadium.

The title went to Laura Turner, who claimed her fourth WDF ranking title, beating former Gwent county player Mel Williams 4-0 in the final.

The quarter-finals saw Turner see off Northern Ireland International Grace Crane with a 4-0 win, before a close encounter with Lincolnshire's Paula Jacklin in the semi's, with Turner edging through 4-3.

Williams, who now resides in Spain, drew partner Hannah Williams in the quarters, with Mel winning in straight legs, before facing Alex Fox, who earlier in the week played in the JDC Virtual singles and team finals. Williams won through again without dropping a leg.
