Fallon Sherrock once again made history last week at the Cazoo Grand Slam of Darts.

The Queen of the Palace followed in the footsteps of Anastasia Dobromyslova, who registered the first win for a female player at the Grand Slam of Darts when she beat Vincent Van Der Voort in 2009, by whitewashing Mike de Decker in her second group stage match.

The match also saw Sherrock hit a record-breaking 101.55 average in the process; the highest televised average hit by a woman, breaking the previous record of 100.30 set by Lisa Ashton earlier this year at the UK Open..

Following a loss in her opener against World Number 2 Peter Wright, Sherrock went into her final group match against German Giant Gabriel Clemens needing a 5-3 win or better. Trailing 3-1, Sherrock reeled off 4 consecutive legs, including a 141 checkout and an impressive 170 finish to see out the match 5-3, with her opponent sat on a 2-dart finish.

The last 16 saw Sherrock set up a rematch with Mensur Suljovic, who she beat at the 2019/2020 World Championships, and she once again prevailed to reach the quarter-finals with a convincing 10-5 win over The Gentle and set up another clash with Peter Wright.

Wright once again proved too strong for Sherrock, but she pushed Snakebite the all the way, losing 16-13 to the former World Champion.

Lisa Ashton also appeared in her 3rd consecutive Grand Slam of Darts, but couldn't quite replicate the form which saw her progress at the UK Open in March.

Ashton, the first woman to secure a tour card via Q-School and the 4-times Women's World Champion, faced a tough opener against an in-form Michael Van Gerwin. Further losses to John Henderson and Joe Cullen saw the Lancashire Rose out of the tournament at the round robin stages.

Following a successful Women's Series where both Sherrock and Ashton finished first and second respectively, both will feature once again at the PDC World Championships which kick off on the 15th December.
